An investigation is under way today after a plane overshot the runway at Strandhill airport in Sligo yesterday.

The 40 passengers and crew escaped uninjured as the aircraft, arriving from Dublin, ended up with its nose in the sea as it landed in strong winds.

Members of the band Aslan were reported to be on board the Euro Celtic flight.

Air accident investigators arrived at the scene of the incident yesterday evening.
