Multi-ethnic radio station for Dublin
Ireland's first multi-ethnic radio station goes on air in Dublin this weekend, writes Ruadhan Mac Cormaic.
Sunrise 94.9FM will broadcast in nine languages, aiming to reflect the increasingly diverse cultural heritage of Dubliners.
Irfan Malik, the station's managing director, said the broadcast will coincide with Intercultural Week, which runs from March 19th-25th.
"This radio station will offer a fantastic service for the large variety of foreign communities who live and work in Dublin . . . People from all over the world are living in Dublin now and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide them with a badly-needed radio service," he said.
The station will broadcast from midnight on Fridays until midnight on Sundays for the next 15 weekends.
