Man dies in road crash in Dunleer
Gardaí at Drogheda, Co Louth, are investigating a single-vehicle road traffic crash at Dunleer in which a 27-year-old man died. He was alone when the car he was driving went out of control shortly after 2am yesterday.
Boyne search for missing man (79)
The Garda air support unit and local river rescue volunteers joined in the search yesterday for an elderly man who has been missing for four days.
John Pidgeon (79) has not been seen since he left his home in Dowth, Co Meath, early on Monday. Gardaí have been investigating reports of sightings along the River Boyne.
Way of the Cross event tomorrow
The Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin, will lead the fifth annual Way of the Cross in the Phoenix Park tomorrow, from 3pm.
The event, marking the passion and death of Jesus Christ, begins at the Wellington monument and proceeds to the Papal Cross.
Firefighters put out Strabane fire
Fire officers fought a huge blaze at the site of the former Adria textile factory in the centre of Strabane, Co Tyrone, for several hours yesterday before they were able to extinguish the fire.
Large plumes of black smoke hung over a wide area after several tonnes of rubbish caught fire.
