The primary teachers union, the INTO, has warned that the "influence and effectiveness" of the new Minister for Education would be tested next month when the Book of Estimates revealed how much extra money he had obtained for education, writes Andy Pollak.
The INTO general secretary, Sen Joe O'Toole, stressed the importance of the curriculum implementation committee having the necessary resources to carry out its work. He said to prepare teachers and classes for the introduction of the new curriculum would cost £16 million a year during the five-year implementation period.
