Gardai are investigating the death of a woman in Mountjoy Woman¿s Prison this morning.
The woman, understood to be in her early thirties, was arrested in the city last night and detained.
This morning she was found unconscious in her cell. She was transferred to the Mater Hospital where she was declared dead a short time later.
A post mortem is to be carried out later today.
