Seven long-term IRA prisoners are to be transferred from British to Irish jails later today as part of continuing efforts to advance the peace process. They are expected to be flown to Dublin in a specially chartered commercial aircraft and driven to Portlaoise prison in a high-security police and Irish Army convoy.

The move follows the switch from British jails to Ireland of four republican prisoners shortly before Christmas.
