Ireland announced a 36-man training squad today as they prepare for the resumption of their disrupted Six Nations campaign next month.
The most notable omission was Ulster captain Andy Ward, while Lions caps Rob Henderson and Paul Wallace were ruled out with injuries.
Henderson underwent surgery after suffering knee cartilage damage during the summer Lions tour of Australia, while Wallace, who played in the Lions 1997 tour of South Africa, is still recovering from a serious ankle injury.
Blackrock College lock Paul Wallace, who has five Irish caps, was also not considered due to injury.
Ireland travel to Scotland on September 22nd and Wales on October 13th, before a potential grand slam decider against England in Dublin on October 20th.
The squad will meet for training in Limerick next Monday and Tuesday.
