A two-year-old boy, who was injured in a two-car collision in Finglas, Dublin on Saturday, remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning, gardaí have said.

The crash happened at the junction of Hamptonwood Green and Hamptonwood Avenue at about 3.30pm on Saturday. The boy was taken to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin where he continues to be treated.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them at Finglas Garda Station on (01) 6667500,

Separately an 18-year-old woman died in a road collision in Co Down last night, Police in Northern Ireland have said.

The woman was driving a silver Peugeot car which collided with a blue Audi shortly before 8.30pm. The incident took place on the Portaferry Road, Newtownards

The man driving the car and the passenger were taken to hospital for treatment. However their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The PSNI has appealed for witnesses to the collision or anyone travelling on the Portaferry Road around the time of the collision to contact them.
