Gardaí investigate stabbing of 41-year- old man in Cork city

Gardaí in Cork have begun an investigation after a 41-year-old man was stabbed in an attack in the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man, who is from the Churchfield area of the city, was found with a number of stab wounds on Baker’s Road in Gurranebrahter at around 2am.

The man, who had been stabbed in the chest and hand, was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí from Gurranebraher cordoned off the area overnight for a technical examination.

Door to door enquiries were also carried out.

Gardaí plan to speak to the victim later today when it is hoped that he will be able to give officers more information about how he was attacked.
