Gardaí are investigating the serious assault of a male teenager in a Co Tipperary village over the weekend.

The man, aged in his late teens, was taken to Cork University Hospital following the assault in Upperchurch, Thurles, which gardaí believe occurred between the hours of 11pm on Sunday and 12.30am on Monday.

The victim remains in hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

No arrests have been made to date, and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses of the assault to come forward. Road users who travelled through the village of Upperchurch around that time are being asked to make any camera footage available to gardaí in Thurles.
