A man in his 20s has died in Co Roscommon after his car crashed into a wall.

The single vehicle crash occurred on the N61 at Four Mile House at about 8.45pm on Friday.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway where a postmortem will take place.

The road remained closed on Friday night with Garda Forensic Collision Investigators at the scene. Local diversions were in place.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them. Any road users on the N61 between 8.15pm and 8.45pm, and who may have dash cam footage, are also asked to make it available.
