A man in his 50s has died after two workers fell from a farm building after the roof apparently collapsed.

The second man was injured in the incident at the property on the Derrycarne Road near Portadown, Co Armagh.

Members of the PSNI and inspectors from the Northern Ireland Health and Safety Executive were at the scene of the incident.

Upper Bann Assembly member Sydney Anderson expressed concern about the incident.

“This is a very alarming situation with one death and another injury,” said the DUP representative.

“I express my sympathy to those families affected and assure them of my prayers.

“In recent years Northern Ireland has been rocked by farm accidents and this undoubtedly will have a similar impact on the community in the Derrycarne area.

“I know many of the farmers in this area and how they work very closely with each other.”
