A man died and another man was hospitalised following a single-car crash in Co Donegal on Monday morning.

The collision happened at about 7am on the N56 road at Termon.

It is understood the driver of the car, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male passenger was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment.

The crash happened close to the Lagoon Bar near the Gaoth Dobhair road turn-off.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The road has been closed and is not expected to re-open for some time due to a forensic investigation.
