Man dies following single-vehicle crash in Co Tipperary

The 44-year-old died after his car hit a concrete column on the M8 motorway

A man (44) has died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Tipperary.

The incident occurred shortly after 3pm on Monday, when the car which the man was driving hit a concrete column on the M8 motorway.

The incident happened just past junction seven southbound in the townland of Ballyknock, Cashel.

The man, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital, where a postmortem will take place on Tuesday.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination of the scene by Garda forensic collision investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to contact them at Cashel Garda station on 062 -75840, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any Garda station.
