Man in his 40s dies in suspected house fire in Co Kerry

A man in his 40s has died in his home near Glenbeigh on the Ring of Kerry on Thursday.

The man, named locally as Brian Looney, in his early 40s was found by neighbours in his home near Mountain Stage yesterday at 4 pm.

Gardaí suspect a fire in the sitting room was the cause of his death. A post mortem is being carried out on Friday.

Supt Flor Murphy of Killarney gardaí said an investigation was underway and a technical examination is being conducted at the house .

Mr Looney is the sixth person to die in a house fire since September.
