Man in his 50s dies after falling into Dublin canal

Emergency services were called to Ninth Lock on Grand Canal early on Saturday

A man in his 50s has died after falling into a Dublin canal early on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to Ninth Lock on the Grand Canal at Clondalkin at around 3am after reports that a man was in difficulty in the water.

Gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade officers pulled the man from the water and he was taken to Tallaght hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.
