A man in his late 60s has died following a house fire in Ballytarsney, Co Kilkenny, gardaí have said.
A passerby called emergency services at about 10am on Thursday morning . The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The house was located in a rural area and no one else was in present at the time of the fire.
The scene has now been preserved for technical examination.
Separately, four units of the Dublin Fire Brigade attended a house fire in Blanchardstown on Thursday morning.
Four pumps were in attendance, from Blanchardstown, Phibsboro and Dolphin’s Barn.
Breathing apparatus was required by officers tackling the blaze and residents from nearby properties had to be evacuated. Two neighbouring houses were damaged due to smoke. There were no injuries.
