Back seat passenger dies in incident on Newbridge-Milltown road yesterday evening

A 20-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle road crash in Co Kildare yesterday evening.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, which occurred on the Newbridge-Milltown road at Hawkfield, Newbridge, at about 7pm.

The man, a back seat passenger, was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in hit a tree.

The car’s other two occupants, both menin their early 20s, received serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The three were taken to Naas General Hospital, where the fatally injured man was pronounced dead.

The Newbridge to Milltown road was closed at Hawkfield to facilitate Garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions were put in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Newbridge Garda station on 045-440180, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any Garda station.
