A man in his 60s was released without charge after being arrested on Monday as part of the search for Ciara Breen, who went missing form her Dundalk home in 1997.

Gardaí in Dundalk began a new search last week after investigators received a series of anonymous tip-offs following a renewed public appeal for information on the teenager’s disappearance.

The arrest on Monday is the second in relation to the case this year. In April, a man in his 50s from Dundalk was held for questioning before released without charge.

Renewed search efforts have been focused on Balmer’s Bog in Dundalk, a secluded spot which lies between two of the main roads into Dundalk and near the Garda and train stations.
