Met Éireann has issued an orange weather alert this evening warning of thunderstorms and flash flooding over much of the country.
Orange weather warnings are issued for weather conditions which have the capacity to have a significant impact on people in affected areas.
The warning remains in place until 9pm tomorrow evening.
Intense thundery downpours are expected in Munster, Leinster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan with Connacht and west Ulster most at risk this evening.
All areas will be at risk later tonight and especially tomorrow.
Scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms will die out tomorrow night and Wednesday is shaping up to be a dry day with sunny spells.
On a more positive note, next weekend is predicted to be dry with sunshine at times and near normal temperatures for the time of year
