Incident involving construction vehicle occurred on R724 near Bagenalstown last night

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Co Carlow last night.  The incident occurred on the R724 at Ballymoon near Bagenalstown at about 8.50pm.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Co Carlow last night.

The incident occurred on the R724 at Ballymoon near Bagenalstown at about 8.50pm.

The man (27) was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with a construction vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and a postmortem is to be carried out on his remains at Waterford Regional Hospital. The driver of the construction vehicle, a man in his 30s, was not injured.

Gardaí said the R724 was closed near the scene and that traffic diversions were in place. A technical examination is to be carried out at the scene this morning.
