A motorcyclist in his late 30s was killed on Monday afternoon when his motorbike collided with a car in Co Clare.
The crash took place shortly after 4pm on the northbound lanes of the N18 dual carriageway not far from Limerick city, between the junctions at Bunratty and Sixmilebridge.
Local reports said the motorcycle and the car were travelling in the same direction. The driver and four passengers of the car were uninjured and did not require medical attention.
The man’s body was removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick, where a postmortem will be carried out.

The N18 northbound route at the scene is expected to remain closed until the early hours of Tuesday, with local diversions in place as gardaí examine the scene.
Gardaí have appeared for any witnesses to the collision to come forward, including anyone travelling in the area or with camera footage including dash-cam footage.

There have been 38 people killed on Irish roads so far this year, compared with 17 in the same period last year, according to road safety group Parc.
