A teenager has been arrested following a crash in which two gardaí were injured when their patrol car was hit by a stolen vehicle.

The incident happened at 4pm on Monday afternoon on the Kildalkey Road outside Trim in Co Meath.

The teenager was arrested following the incident and taken to Trim Garda station for questioning. He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The two gardaí were taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The grey Mondeo was stolen from outside Páirc Tailteann GAA grounds in Navan during the Ballinlough versus Blackhall Gaels football match on Sunday afternoon.

Gardaí are looking for four other teenagers who were in the car when the crash happened. They fled the scene.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses or anybody with information to contact Trim Garda station on 046 9481540.
