Two men arrested in Dublin for conspiracy to murder

Two men have been arrested and a firearm has been seized in a Garda operation in Dublin.

The anti-gangland crime Emergency Response Unit was involved in the arrests of the two men on Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot.

A Garda statement issued on Monday night said that as a result “of an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, a van was intercepted by the Emergency Response Unit on the Kylemore Road this evening at approximately 8pm.

“Two men (34- and 38-years) were arrested at the scene on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and a loaded firearm was also recovered.

“Both men were removed to Crumlin Garda station and are currently detained under Section 50, Criminal Justice Act, 2007.”

The Garda Press Office statement added that investigations were ongoing.
