Trick-or-treaters are in for a wet and windy Halloween, with two weather warnings issued by Met Éireann.
Strong winds are forecast across the country, while a status-yellow wind warning is in place for Munster, as well as for Galway and Mayo.
Met Éireann said it will become “very windy in Munster and Connacht today with strong, gusty, west to northwest winds with some severe or damaging gusts along the west coast and on exposed hills”.
Winds will also strengthen in south Leinster, the forecaster said.
Heavy showers in Munster and west Connacht will extend to most areas through the afternoon and evening, while temperatures will range between 9 to 12 degrees.
Winds will continue strong and gusty over the northern half of the country at night and scattered showers with some longer spells of rain are expected, especially in Ulster. The lowest temperatures will range from 5 to 8 degrees.
The weather will clear up slightly by Monday. Met Éireann forecast a “fresh and breezy day with sunny spells and scattered showers”. The showers will be frequent in Atlantic coastal counties.
More persistent rain will affect parts of north Ulster, and temperatures will reach 9 to 12 degrees.
