Chinese New Year festival
The spring festival, in its eighth year, is celebrating the Year of the Sheep, the lucky eighth sign of the zodiac, across Dublin this weekend. The programme includes music, film, lectures and food experiences. The Chinese New Year carnival will take place at Meeting House Square on Sunday from 12pm-5pm. Performances include dragon and lion dances, tai chi and martial arts displays, and special traditional music. There will also be cooking demonstrations. “Lunar feasts” will take place around the city. Activities on the Saturday include Chinese astrology reading and flying Chinese kites.

Craft brew and food fair
The Alltech Craft Brews and Food Fair returns to the Convention Centre Dublin this weekend. There will be a host of local and international craft beverages and cuisine and live music will include The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow, Booka Brass Band, Amazing Apples and Interskalactic.

Traditional music festival
The Russell Memorial Weekend will feature traditional music, set dancing and sean nós in Doolin, Co Clare until Sunday March 1st. It will feature performances from local and international musicians. There will be workshops running through the weekend on how to play different traditional instruments. The main event on Saturday afternoon will feature Dessie O'Halloran on fiddle and vocals, and Kieran Hanrahan on banjo and mandolin.
