A woman has been killed in a hit and run incident in Lifford, Co Donegal.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the woman (34) was knocked down by a white van at about 2.45am on Sunday and are also seeking information regarding an accident late on Saturday in Co Limerick.
Emergency services attended the scene on the N15 at Townparks, Lifford, and the pedestrian was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Letterkenny where she was pronounced dead.
Gardaí said the van and its driver did not remain at the scene and have yet to be located.
Traffic diversions were put in place on Sunday morning and the scene has been preserved for examination. Gardaí said the local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and are particularly appealing to the driver of the van to come forward. They are also appealing to anyone with video footage (including dash cam) from the scene and along this route to make it available to them.

Gardaí are also appealing, meanwhile, for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision that occurred in Co Limerick shortly after 11.30 pm on Saturday night.
Gardaí and emergency service attended the scene of a two car collision on the N21, Kilconlea, Abbeyfeale and two men, both in their early 20s were taken to University Hospital Kerry where their condition has been described as critical. One of the men was subsequently moved to Cork University Hospital.
A woman in her 20s was also taken to University Hospital Kerry where her condition is described as stable.
A fourth person, a man in his late teens, was taken to University Hospital Limerick where his condition is also understood to be stable.
The road was closed on Sunday morning to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigations and local diversions were in place.
