An Irishman has been killed in a what is understood to be a climbing accident in the United States.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the man was an Irish resident who died in a fall at the Yosemite National Park in California yesterday.
A spokeswoman said the department is providing assistance to the man's family in Ireland.
The man's age or his place of residence in Ireland is not yet known. The department does not reveal particulars of those involved in incidents abroad.
