Washington - Ms Paula Jones, the woman suing US President Bill Clinton for sexual harassment, has rejected an offer to settle the case for $700,000, according to her adviser.
Ms Susan Carpenter-McMillan said the president's lawyers had offered to pay out the full sum claimed by Ms Jones - which is equivalent to a year's presidential salary.
The reported offer comes only weeks after the Jones camp filed an intention to bring into the case other women to whom Mr Clinton is alleged to have made sexual advances, and it was ready to detail instances involving Ms Jones other than the central alleged episode in an Arkansas hotel in 1991. President Clinton's lawyer, Robert Bennett, denied that there was an offer on the table.
