Legal proceedings by the family of murdered publican Tom Nevin aimed at restraining his widow, Catherine Nevin, from collecting rental monies from two Dublin properties have been adjourned until the New Year.
Catherine Nevin is serving a life sentence for her husband's murder.
At the High Court yesterday, Mr Justice Frank Clarke agreed that the matter be put back by eight weeks to allow legal representatives of the various parties study documents that relate to the renting out of the two properties.
Catherine Nevin (55) was convicted in April 2000 of murdering her husband at Jack White's Inn near Brittas Bay, Co Wicklow, on March 19th, 1996.
She was jailed for life on that charge and also received a seven-year sentence for soliciting three men to kill her husband in 1989 and 1990.
Patrick Nevin, brother of Tom Nevin, and his sister, Margaret Lavelle, have sued Catherine Nevin in proceedings in which they are seeking various orders in relation to two properties in the Dublin area - houses at Mountshannon Road and Mayfield Road in the Rialto area.
The Nevins are seeking an injunction in relation to the collection of rental money dating back to the time of Tom Nevin's death.
All bank accounts relating to the lodging of rental monies in relation to the two properties and other documents in relation to the houses are also being sought for the purposes of the action.
The late Tom Nevin died without making a will. The principal asset of the late Mr Nevin's estate was the pub, which was jointly owned by him and his wife.
In late 1997, the pub was sold by Catherine Nevin for £620,000.
Mr Nevin also owned properties at Mayfield Road, Dublin, Mountshannon Road, Dublin, and held a policy with Irish Life Assurance for almost £78,000.
He also held another life assurance policy and a bank account of about £197,000.
Mr Nevin's mother, Nora Nevin, of Loughrea, Co Galway, brought proceedings in 1997 challenging the pub sale and seeking a declaration that Catherine Nevin was not entitled to any share of Mr Nevin's estate.
After Mrs Nora Nevin's death, Patrick Nevin, Nutgrove, Tynagh, Loughrea, and his sister, Margaret Lavelle, Ballynagran, Craughwell, Co Galway, issued new proceedings as the personal representatives of their late mother.
