Soccer: Republic of Ireland skipper Robbie Keane is fit for Tuesday night's Euro 2012 qualifier against Andorra but Damien Duff will not be making an appearance against Group the B minnows.
Duff was ruled out of yesterday's 1-0 win over Armenia in Yerevan earlier in the week, but Giovanni Trapattoni was hopeful he would be in contention for a place on Tuesday after receiving treatment on a calf strain with Fulham. Midfielder Keith Andrews had already been ruled out of both games with a groin strain.
Keane suffered no reaction to his knee injury in Armenia. The 30-year-old striker, who has been struggling with the problem, was substituted shortly after Keith Fahey's winning goal at the Republican Stadium.
Trapattoni insisted today, however, that it was merely a precaution.
"I gave him a little bit of a rest because he had, not an injury, but some pain and I wanted to be cautious about it," said the Italian after the side returned to Dublin.
Meanwhile, Ipswich defender Darren O'Dea trained today after recovering from a sprained knee, while Hull counterpart Paul McShane rejoined the squad after missing the Armenia game with a hamstring problem.
Ireland are level on points with Russia and Slovakia in group one, but the former are top by virtue of their two goals against Andorra yesterday.
Slovakia beat Macedonia 1-0 at home but the winner was a long time coming, eventually arriving in the 91st minute, courtesy of Filip Holosko.
