Soccer:Robbie Keane insists there is no reason why Celtic cannot peg back rivals Rangers and win the Scottish Premier League. The on-loan Tottenham striker's debut was derailed when the Hoops suffered defeat at Kilmarnock on Tuesday night which allowed Rangers' 10-point advantage to remain intact.

Walter Smith's men are now huge favourites to retain the championship but Keane claims the title race is far from over.

He said: "There's no reason why we can't have a chance.

"I need a few games and we need to put a run together. There's every chance because there's a long way to go.

"It was disappointing not to win at Kilmarnock. We were the better team and had a few chances but it was not to be.

"We just have to move on now and look forward to the next game."

Meanwhile, Keane's Irleand team-mate and Preston defender Seán St Ledger has expressed his disappointment at being denied the opportunity to join Celtic after being the subject of at least one bid by the Parkhead club last month.

St Ledger is now focused on his career at Deepdale but says Preston chairman Derek Shaw failed to keep him informed of developments.

"Everyone who plays for Ireland always has a link with Celtic - I'm Catholic as well," the centre-half said. "It would have been massive for me had I had the opportunity but I didn't.

"The club didn't accept the bid but it would have been nice if the chairman had returned my calls."
