Phnom Penh - A Khmer Rouge commander was sentenced to life imprisonment in Phnom Penh yesterday for the murders of three Western tourists, becoming the first Khmer officer to be jailed.
Nuon Paet (52) was convicted of premeditated murder and five other charges in connection with a July 26th, 1994, attack on a train and the kidnap and subsequent murder of the three backpackers from Britain, Australia and France.
