A 14-year-old Kildare boy died in St James's Hospital, Dublin, on Saturday after being badly burned in a fire at his family's garden shed. Jason Lyons, Mossistown Estate, Newbridge, was playing in the shed with his brother on Friday when the incident happened just before 10.30 p.m.

They lit a small fire and it is thought a container of what may have been petrol fell from a shelf, causing an explosion. The other boy was unhurt.
