MINISTER FOR Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin said he was "not overly concerned" at the prospect of eurosceptic Czech president Vaclav Klaus meeting Declan Ganley in Dublin today.

"It's a free world and people are entitled to meet," he said at a summit of EU foreign and defence ministers in Brussels on Monday.

"It's normal when you go to another state to meet parties or groups or people you wish to meet. I'm not overly concerned."

He declined to comment on whether or not the Department of Foreign Affairs had lodged a complaint with the Czech embassy on the matter. A spokesman for the Government said that there was no "official complaint" lodged.

However, sources close to the Government said earlier this week that the department had made it clear to Czech officials that it was surprised that protocol had in its view been breached.
