Paris - L'Humanite, the daily newspaper of the French Communist Party, dropped the hammer and sickle from its masthead yesterday as part of a facelift aimed at boosting flagging sales.
For the first time, the front page of the 95-year-old paper carried neither the party emblem nor the mention "Newspaper of the French Communist Party".
