Monica Leech has agreed to give documents to two newspaper organisations relating to the public relations and media work carried out by her for the then minister for the environment Martin Cullen, the High Court has been told.
The newspapers had sought documents in advance of Ms Leech's action alleging libel in articles in the Evening Herald and Ireland on Sunday. Mr Justice Brian McGovern was told yesterday by Eoin McCullough SC, for the newspapers, that motions for discovery brought by Independent Newspapers (Ireland) Ltd and Associated Newspapers against Ms Leech had been resolved.
Ms Leech is to make discovery of all but two categories of documents, the judge was told.
Those two categories related to documents regarding her business accounts and media articles.
Because Ms Leech was not now pursuing a claim arising from alleged loss of business reputation, documents related to her business accounts were not now being sought, the judge was told.
The newspapers are to receive all documents relating to any voluntary or paid work carried out by Ms Leech for Mr Cullen prior to her appointment as consultant to the OPW or during the period she or her company acted as a consultant to the Department of the Environment.
