Tunis - Libya yesterday called for an independent inquiry into claims made by a former British intelligence officer of a British plot to assassinate Libyan leader, Colonel Muammar Gadafy. Earlier this month, Mr David Shayler, a former member of Britain's intelligence services, said in a BBC interview there was a plan was to kill Col Gadafy in February 1996 by planting a bomb under his motorcade. But, he said, the device was placed under the wrong car, killing several bystanders.
