A security man is recovering in hospital in Limerick after being shot outside the pub where he was working. Last night's shooting is the fifth in the city in a week.
The incident happened outside the Spotted Dog pub in the Roxboro Road area of Limerick city at about 6.30pm yesterday.
The man, who is from the nearby Glasgow Park area, is being treated in Mid-Western Regional Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Gardaí are trying to establish if there is any connection between the shooting and an incident at the pub on St Patrick's night in which a number of people were arrested for public order offences.
Meanwhile, a man (19) appeared before a special sitting of Longford District Court last night charged in connection with an assault on another man (47) in the town. The man was charged under section 3 of the Non-fatal Offences against the Person Act.
The incident happened on Saturday evening and the man received serious injuries to his head and body.
In Co Tipperary, a youth (17) was questioned by gardaí in Templemore investigating a stabbing in the town on Saturday.
The youth presented himself at Templemore Garda station yesterday but was later released without charge
Gardaí in Co Kerry have appealed for witnesses to a serious assault on a young woman in Ballybunion. The incident occurred at 2.15am yesterday morning on the Sandhill Road in the town.
