The so-called Orange Volunteers, a splinter loyalist paramilitary group, claimed responsibility for a pipe bomb attack at the Derryhirk Inn public house in Lurgan at around 10.30 last night.

The pub is located at Derryhirk Road in the townland of Aghagallon, just outside the town. Twelve people were in the pub at the time, but there were no reports of injuries.

A bomb disposal expert was immediately called to the scene, the RUC said. The police believe the target of the explosion was a vehicle, parked outside the pub.

Derryhirk Road was the scene of a shooting incident some years ago involving security forces and paramilitaries.
