Talks aimed at resolving a dispute over relocation at Fáilte Ireland are underway at the Labour Relations Commission today.
Up to 60 marketing staff at the tourism authority have been picketing premises on Baggot Street and Pembroke Row in Dublin in protest at the planned move to the Fáilte Ireland office in Amiens Street.
Last night Siptu - which represents the staff - sent a letter to management threatening to involve other staff at Fáilte Ireland if a third party facilitator was not agreed.
In response to the letter, management offered to engage with the Labour Relations Commission.
Fáilte Ireland closed its Pembroke Row office last weekend and staff from the marketing division were to begin work at offices in Amiens Street.
But Siptu said a number of issues relating to the relocation had not been resolved and directed staff to picket the offices.
"Industrial relations in Fáilte Ireland are at an all-time low," a Siptu spokesperson said. "Morale in the marketing division has hit rock bottom - with union members feeling alienated from senior management."
But Fáilte Ireland described the picketing as "disproportionate, unnecessary and not in accordance with the Labour Court".
