The 24-year-old was arrested after gardaí seized heroin and cocaine with an estimated street value of €2 million in a planned raid on an open area on the outskirts of Russelstown, Blessington.
He is being detained at Naas Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
Gardaí also recovered a handgun and a large quantity of ammunition in the operation.
In a second raid last night, gardaí seized cocaine and cannabis plants at a house in the Clonee area of west Dublin.
A 38-year-old man was arrested under section two of the Drug Trafficking Act and was being questioned at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
Gardai said the cocaine has an estimated street value of €18,000 but it is unclear what the cannabis plants were worth.
