A man has died following a car crash in Dublin earlier today.

A man has died following a car crash in Dublin earlier today.

A 26-year-old man was the only occupant of the car involved in the incident, which took place at about 1.15am on the Malahide Rd, Coolock between Belmayne and Campions Public House.

The driver was seriously injured in the incident and was transferred to Beaumont Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead at 2am.

The Malahide Road was closed for a short time while a forensic examination took place but it has since re-opened to traffic.
