The 31-year-old woman received 38 stitches to her face and neck in hospital following the attack in Portrush at 1.30 a.m. today.

Her attacker allegedly stalked her from the town bus station and grabbed her from behind near the Dunluce car park.

Following an appeal by police for witnesses the man was arrested. The woman was released from hospital after treatment.
