A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Northern Ireland under Britain's anti-terrorism laws in connection with a series of "Real IRA" bombings in Birmingham, Ealing and outside the BBC's London HQ last year.

The man was arrested yesterday afternoon in Northern Ireland and was transferred to a police station in central London today.

Security sources have said the bombings were the work of the "Real IRA", a republic splinter group which opposes the peace process in Northern Ireland.

Two men have already been charged in connection with inquiries into the three bombings.
