Man assaulted outside pub dies

A man died early yesterday after he was assaulted outside a pub on the Malahide Road in Dublin.

Mr Eugene Flanagan (38), received a blow to the head during a row which started outside the premises shortly after midnight. He was rushed to Beaumont Hospital, where he died later in the evening.

A second man was injured and was taken to hospital but later discharged.

Gardai said the dead man had been a bystander and was not directly involved in the row.

Two men appeared in Dublin District Court last night charged with causing bodily harm to another man who was injured in the row.
