A jury at the Central Criminal Court has acquitted a south Dublin man of a charge that he raped an Australian teenager in his apartment in 1997. The jury took more than two hours to find him not guilty of raping the then 18-year-old woman on August 22nd, 1997.

The 33-year-old man told the jury in evidence he had consensual sex with the woman. Mr Justice Carney discharged him on the fourth day of the trial.
