A man is due to appear in court today over a knife attack which left a young radio researcher fighting for her life.
Mairead O'Dwyer was stabbed in the neck as she walked home along Lourdes Road in south inner city Dublin.
She was set upon at about 3am on Saturday May 19th, about 150 yards from her front door. The 27-year-old suffered severe injuries and underwent several hours of life-saving surgery in St James's Hospital.
A 21-year-old Polish man is to appear at Kilmainham District Court today.
Ms O'Dwyer, originally from Clonmel, Co Tipperary, worked as a researcher with Newstalk radio.
She was attacked as she walked home alone after partying with work mates at a city nightclub. Her attacker stabbed her in the shoulder and neck with a six or seven inch blade.
One knife wound was so deep it left an exit wound on the other side of her neck.
