A man (27) will appear in court later this morning charged with the murder of Det Constable Stephen Oake during a counter-terrorist operation in Manchester earlier in the week.

The policeman died of multiple stab wounds to the chest and upper body during a raid on a flat on Tuesday night.

The man, of north African origin, also faces charges of four counts of attempted murder on four other police officers who were injured at the same time.

For security reasons the location of the court has not been released.
