A man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of the Bank of Ireland on Main Street, Blackrock, Co Dublin, yesterday.
A lone raider threatened staff and customers of the bank what yesterday afternoon, armed with was described as a handgun. The robbery took place at about 3.50pm, but no shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident.
The raider then fled the scene with a sum of cash, believed to be in the region of €6,000.
Shortly after the robbery, gardaí stopped a taxi on Merrion Road.

They arrested a 51-year-old male passenger in the car in connection with the investigation. The man was last night being held at Blackrock Garda station.
